Optometrists prescribe people with either eyeglasses or contact lenses if they need vision correction. Many people do not replace their eyewear as long as they can still see clearly on them. Over time, your vision changes, and you’ll only know it after seeing your eye doctor.
Keep on reading to find out when it is time to update your eye prescription.
You Are Experiencing Eye Fatigue
Eye fatigue is the most common sign your vision has changed. Besides vision changes, lack of sleep or seasonal allergies can also cause eye strain. If you are experiencing persistent eye strain, it is an indication that you need to update your glasses or contacts.
You Are Getting Constant Headaches
If you keep on getting headaches, it is a sign you need to get an eye exam. You may not notice that your vision is changing, but your brain does. As a result, it works harder to help you see clearer. When your brain uses too much energy and gets tired, you will get headaches. Nearsighted individuals may experience headaches in the front of their head or right over the brows. Meanwhile, farsighted people may get headaches after looking at nearby objects for an extended period.
You Keep on Squinting
Squinting is a sign someone is having difficulty seeing clearly. It helps improve focus and clarity, and you may not even know you are squinting until your head already hurts. Keep in mind that constant squinting can cause damage to your eyes over time as you may end up straining your eyes.
